At the end of the day, deep down all we want is peace. However, what we mean by peace is very individual for every one us. How peace feels is also very individual.
It can be feeling free from worries, overwhelm, self-criticism and judgement by others.
It can be knowing that everything will be ok.
It can be feeling confident that you can do it.
It can be trust that you are supported and guided by forces bigger than you – Nature, Universe, God, whichever you are connected with more.
In exploring the state of peace through situations of others I have come across, my own practices, and through situations we work on with my clients, I have found that it is also very important for us to tune into our self-perception and perception of the world while being or trying to be at peace.
1. 1. Falling into a state of peace after giving up or giving in.
It is a state of peace when have tried everything, worked very hard, kept trying for a long time to break through a challenge, and nothing worked.
We are giving up and giving in. We can’t control it any more. We surrender the solution and outcome.
What’s interesting is that this state of peace can very possibly bring desired changes and outcomes because we let go of worries, control, and trying to figure it out. We remove the energy of resistance and allow solutions to organically unfold.
In the spiritual world, this kind of unfolding to a desired outcome or better is often called a miracle.
However, if you sense this state of peace is more like apathy or depression, sick help for support and guidance to bring yourself to balance and restore harmony.
Once the harmony is restored, miracles happen. Remember, you matter!
2. 2. Peace, feeling content about being comfortable with where you are. It is a normal day in and day out, stable, predictable flow. We don’t want to rock the boat.
The hidden challenge of being in this state of peace lies in our innate need for growth. We are designed to grow no matter how fast or slow, big or small, growth has to be there. If we put a cap on our growth, something will break down, explode, or derail that will force us to shift and change to step into the next level version of ourselves that we are meant to be.
It is very important to be honest with yourself and explore where you are at if you sense you might be in this state of peace. Being proactive and leading yourself through this era of your life will give you much more control over this organic growth as opposed to being catapulted from your seat with disruptive events so you can get into your next era.
For example, a sudden job loss is often a sign that we are meant to make a difference somewhere else. An unexpected break-up in a relationship or out-of-control deterioration of a relationship can very well be a sign that this relationship was not right for you long-term.
It’s almost like closing our eyes, covering our ears, and shutting down our heart and soul to see, hear, and feel that we are ready and need to grow into the next level of ourselves.
If you sense you’re in this state of peace, explore these questions:
What do I like about this state of peace?
What do I like about this situation?
What does it help me with?
If I tune into my heart and soul, if anything was possible, what would I really want?
How is what I want different from where I am?
Which part of me is afraid of making changes? Why?
This will help you uncover doubts and fears that will be very important for you to release.
3. 3. Peace while becoming the next level version of YOU. This is what I call stepping into and embodying the next level version of you while feeling at peace and in harmony.
It is a state of peace knowing that we can do it, we are worthy of it, that we are ready to be it and receive what comes with it.
It is a state of peace trusting ourselves, accepting ourselves, trusting that everything is unfolding that way it should, trusting that we are loved and supported by bigger forces.
It is a state of peace that we don’t need to force or push through knowing that we always take the right actions to see our dreams come into reality.
It can be challenging being in this state of peace as when we step into our growth, any patterns of self-doubt, self-criticism, fear or failure, opinions of others that stayed unresolved from our prior experiences, can get activated and take us out of this state of peace.
This state of peace is the state of creation, when through our state of being we see our goals and dreams come into reality.
This state of peace is directly connected to bringing our mind, heart, and soul into harmony. As when they are in harmony, there is peace. And when there is true peace, there is harmony.
To explore what being in peace means to you, I invite you to feel into the following questions:
1. What is my present level of being in the state of peace?
2. If I was to feel peace in the present moment, how would it feel?
3. How would I want peace to feel?
4. What is the difference between feeling of peace in the questions 2 and 3?
5. What needs to be released or healed to create space for peace in question 3?
Restoring and cultivating a state of peace is a daily practice as our minds are constantly influenced by the outside world activating related thoughts, feelings, and emotions that can be very opposite to peace and harmony.
